It was a reel fun weekend filled with social fish-stancing!
This past June, BCA was a proud sponsor at the 36th Annual Dolphin Days Family Fishing Tournament.
The tournament weekend kicked off with a Captain’s Party complete with a silent auction and raffles. The anglers cast off in the Key Largo waters early Saturday morning, and the weekend closed with a live dolphin weigh-in and results ceremony on Sunday.
Hosted by Homestead Kiwanis and the Military Affairs Council, the tournament raised funds to benefit the children of the Homestead-South Dade community, local charities, military families, and community service projects.
“We are so thankful and honored to have the opportunity to sponsor charitable events like the Dolphin Days Family Fishing Tournament again,” said Pam Kirchner, Chief Executive Officer. “Many of our team members live in the Homestead-South-Dade area, so we are happy to support their communities. Our leadership team is also deeply passionate about assisting members of the military and their families in any way we can.”
The tournament featured over $7,500 in prizes that were awarded to the individuals with the largest dolphin catches. The first-place winner’s dolphin weighed 17.4 pounds, with the second and third winners’ dolphins weighing just over 6 pounds.
The Military Affairs Council assists and supports the military units stationed on the Homestead Air Reserve Base, while working to enhance the quality of life for military personnel and their families. Each year the council partners with Homestead Kiwanis to present the Dolphin Days Family Fishing Tournament.
